Founded in 1870, the Society, promotes the study of archaeology and history in Birmingham, Warwickshire and West Midlands County by the investigation, preservation and restoration of local antiquities and historic buildings and by the publication of these activities in its Transactions.

Membership of the Society is open to anyone interested in archaeology, and offers the following benefits:

Lectures on various aspects of archaeology in Britain and abroad.

Excursions to places of archaeological and historical interest.

A Field Group, which is involved in fieldwork in the Birmingham area.

Transactions, published annually, and other Society publications at a reduced price.

Use of the Society's library.
